Scott Yeatman and family papers, 1860-1885 (bulk 1860-1863).

These papers consist primarily of letters created and accumulated by Scott Yeatman. Many were written by Augustus George to Scott & Leonida Yeatman and his mother, Anna Fulton George, describing military life during the Civil War. A December 1863 letter from Scott Yeatman to Anna Fulton George describes his efforts to retrieve Augustus George's body and learn the facts of his death. A synopsis of the letters and copies of Augustus George's muster roll records are also included.

Scott Yeatman of Glendale, Ohio, and Leonida "Nida" George of Dayton, Ohio, married on October 1, 1861. Her brother, Augustus George, served with the 5th Indiana Cavalry Regiment during the Civil War. He was killed in action at Warm Springs, N.C., on October 26, 1863.
